iPhone keeps record of everywhere you go without explicit consent. Iphone 4 and IPAD user’s at risk. This is a
perfect example of why consent needs an Open Standard. Not only is this not new information, it is not a secret and has been an issue that has been know for quite some time. Unfortunately, Apple is not easily able to show this is the case.
April 2oth the guardian reports that. Security researchers have discovered that Apple’s iPhone keeps track of
where you go – and saves every detail of it to a secret file on the device
which is then copied to the owner’s computer when the two are synchronised.
The file contains the latitude and longitude of the phone’s recorded
coordinates along with a timestamp, meaning that anyone who stole the phone
or the computer could discover details about the owner’s movements using a
simple program.
Although mobile networks already record phones’ locations, it is only
available to the police and other recognized organisations following a court
order under the Regulation of Investigatory Power Act. Standard phones do
not record location data
